The Role of Acupuncture in Chiropractic Care

Visiting a chiropractor isn’t all about “cracking your back.” It’s about restoring alignment, health, and wellness from the inside out. To achieve this, chiropractors often provide various techniques in addition to adjustments. One such treatment offered by Dr. Simaan at Sylvia Chiropractic Center in Kinston, NC, is acupuncture. Learn the benefits of combining acupuncture with other chiropractic techniques below.

How Acupuncture Works

Acupuncture is an ancient technique that uses extremely thin needles to remove blockages in the body. These needles are placed at very specific locations to address various conditions of the soft tissues and nerves. The process stimulates nerve endings, speeds up healing, breaks up constrictions, and more.

Combining Chiropractic Care and Acupuncture

What exactly does restoring alignment and inserting thin needles into the body have to do with one another? That’s a really good question, and you wouldn’t be the first to ask.

Imagine that you are experiencing back pain, and it is difficult for you to move well. The root cause of your pain likely stems from a misalignment, but the reduced range of motion could be due to tension or trigger points.

Adjusting the spine will correct the misalignment and relieve some of the tension. However, you might still experience some range of motion issues. Additionally, if tension is still present, it could pull the spine back out of alignment. Utilizing a combination of adjustments and chiropractic care, though, would address both issues and provide more comprehensive relief.

This is just one example, but combining acupuncture and chiropractic care can provide relief from the following and more:

  • Neck pain
  • Headaches
  • Sports injuries
  • Sciatica
  • Arthritis
  • Tennis elbow
  • Fatigue
  • Fibromyalgia
  • TMJ

Both chiropractic care and acupuncture work to stimulate the body’s natural processes and can be used to treat a very wide range of symptoms and conditions.
